How is a burnout and stress coachee guided?

When a coachee comes to me, I always briefly explain the step-by-step plan. There are several phases in the approach to empower the coachee again. The coachee is referred to by “you”.
Phase 1: Recharging
In this phase, you will learn about your physical and mental condition and, above all, how to accept it. Acceptance is therefore an important step. This does not happen overnight, but the sooner you accept your situation, the sooner you can take steps to improve it. Next, we will map out your complaints and try to identify your sources of stress. We will also look at how you can best relax, how you sleep, what activities you could do and how you eat.

Phase 2: Resolving
In this phase, we will look for solutions to your sources of stress and how you can deal with them better, how you can put them into perspective. We will also examine whether your work suits you. Does it suit your talents, but also your values and your mission? Many people I see in my practice are not aligned with the work they do. This means that they are capable of doing the work, but that they have other talents they would rather develop, or that the work they do does not correspond with their values or the contribution they want to make to society today.

Phase 3: Taking action
In this phase, you gradually take on roles and tasks again. You apply the solutions you have devised in practice, both at work and in your private life. Depending on the situation, the outcomes may vary. Some will have to make important decisions to embark on a path that suits them better, while others will make adjustments to their existing lives. One thing is certain: if you do not change anything, there is a good chance that the problems will remain and/or return. We will also work on relapse prevention. This means that we will look at how you can protect yourself in the long term so that previous pitfalls can be avoided in the new situation.
This is broadly how the counselling works. The number of sessions is not determined in advance, because each person is unique. After 4-5 sessions, you can already lay a solid foundation and see progress.
