Do you often have the feeling that you’re not able to express or defend yourself as good as you would like to? Would you like to communicate to other people expressing your feelings and at the same time respecting your speaking partner?
Good news! That is something you can learn! It will, of course, not solve all your problems (in order to solve a problem you need two good willing parties!) but it will certainly help you to feel better about yourself.
The training will help you to communicate your needs and boundaries clearly without being aggressive or passive.
It will help you to find a balance by standing up for yourself while respecting others. Setting and maintaining boundaries is a key aspect of assertiveness. This prevents feelings of resentment and burnout, further contributing to confidence
This assertiveness training will also reduce your anxiety and stress. It will help you to say “no” without guilt and will address issues before they escalate. This can be important in both personal as professional settings.
It will also improve your decision making as you will be used to position yourself and sort all the elements out. It will also be easier for you to stand by your decisions and not be swayed by other opinions.
Assertiveness training will give you enhanced communication, better relationships, it will help you solve (potential) conflicts and it will empower you to have a greater control over your life.
Techniques used in assertiveness training are:
Role-playing, cognitive restructuring by replacing negatives beliefs by positive, empowering thoughts, behaviour skill training (for instance I-statements) or setting boundaries.
Would you like to improve your assertiveness skills and feel better about the way you communicate?
